Dortmund's Old Town's main attraction will be the Alter Markt, the Old Market. The long history of this large pedestrian-friendly area roots back to the 12th century, when local merchants and traders displayed their goods here at the daily market.

There is a statue of him at the entrance of the cathedral, facing Charlemagne.The late-Gothic high altar of the church is artistically outstanding. Last, but not least, the bell tower offers a wonderful view across the city.
